# Edit alert emails

> Change the subject, preview text, and design of back-in-stock and price drop emails.

Each widget has a matching **automation**: **Back in stock** and **Price drop alert**. Open **Automations**, choose **Customize**, then edit the email step.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the automation">
    Go to **Automations** and choose **Customize** on Back in stock or Price drop alert.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set subject and preview text">
    Edit **Subject line** and **Preview text**, then save.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Edit the design">
    On the email step, choose **Edit** to open the designer. Insert merge tags, then save.

## Merge tags

| `{{first_name}}` | Subscriber first name (or "there" if missing) |
| `{{last_name}}` | Subscriber last name |
| `{{product_title}}` | Product title |
| `{{variant_title}}` | Variant title |

| `{{product_url}}` | Link to the product |
| `{{product_image}}` | Product image |

Default subjects:

* Back in stock: `Good news — your item is back in stock`
* Price drop: `Price drop alert — your watched item just got cheaper`

The app sends these emails. Connecting Klaviyo or another ESP does **not** send the Notify Me alert. See [Integrations](/notify-me/integrations).
