# When alerts send

> When Notify Me sends back-in-stock and price drop alerts.

Notify Me sends an **alert** only to **Waiting** subscribers on that variant. If nobody subscribed, restocking or lowering the price does nothing.

  Check **Subscribers** for a **Waiting** row on that product and variant before you look for a missing email.

    Notify Me sends the restock alert when Shopify restocks a variant that has Waiting subscribers, **and** all of these are true:

    * The product is **Active** (not draft or archived)
    * Quantity is greater than 0
    * Quantity meets **Minimum stock before sending alerts** (or that value is 0)
    * Quantity tracking is on, unless you enabled **Send alerts for products that do not track quantity**
    * If the product **continues selling at zero stock**, you enabled **Send alerts for products that allow buying at zero stock**

    Subscribers then move to **Notified**. See [Back in stock widget](/notify-me/back-in-stock-widget) to change inventory rules.

    Notify Me sends the price drop alert when the variant's price is **strictly lower** than the price stored at signup, and at least one subscriber is **Waiting** on that variant.

    Setting compare-at, changing a sale badge, or raising the price does not send the alert. Emails still skip draft or archived products and missing sender settings. See [Price drop widget](/notify-me/price-drop-widget).
