The Back in stock widget shows a Notify me trigger when a variant is unavailable. Shoppers open the popup, subscribe, and wait for a restock alert.
1

Open the widget

Go to Widgets, keep Back in stock ON, and choose Customize.
2

Set the trigger

On the Trigger tab, set label, colors, and where the button appears.
3

Publish

Choose Publish. A draft does not update the storefront.

Where to show

On the Trigger tab, under Where to show:
  • Only show on out-of-stock variants — hides the trigger when the variant is in stock. Leave this on for most stores.
  • Show on collection, search & product listing pages — adds the trigger on product cards in grids.
  • Replace Sold Out button with Notify Me — swaps your theme’s sold-out add-to-cart control for the Notify me trigger (inline trigger only). When off, Notify me sits below the buy buttons.

Products and collections

Use Products & collections to include or exclude products and collections. If you add includes, the widget only appears on those products or collection members. Excludes always win.

Inventory rules

Most stores leave these off except the stock threshold.

Wait until at least this many units are back before emailing subscribers. Use 0 to alert on any restock.
Turn this on if some products stay purchasable at 0 stock in Shopify (Continue selling when out of stock) but you still want signups.
Shopify may not update stock reliably when quantity tracking is off. Leave this off unless you know you need it.
Restock emails for continue-selling products are usually unnecessary. Turn this on only if you still want alerts when inventory comes back.
