What the statuses mean
Open Subscribers after alerts go out. Filter by status to see how inboxes treated them.
The Notification usage meter on Settings counts alerts that were sent, opened, clicked, or bounced.
Keep bounce rate low
A bounce means the address cannot receive mail (typo, closed mailbox, or the provider blocked the message).- Filter Subscribers by Bounced. Do not expect another alert to that address.
- Ask the shopper to subscribe again with a working email.
- Add the bounce CNAME from Add a custom domain so Notify Me can record bounces. Without it, bounced rows can lag or stay as Notified.
- Do not paste purchased or old lists into the store and expect Notify Me to email them. Only popup signups should get alerts.
Opens and clicks
Opens mean the email arrived and someone viewed it. Clicks mean they followed{{product_url}} back to the product.
- Use a subject and preview that name the product. Default subjects already do this. See Edit alert emails.
- Keep one clear product link. Extra links and tracking URLs lower trust.
- Match Sent from Name to your store. A random name next to the product title looks like phishing.
- Send from a verified custom domain once DNS is done, so the From address matches your brand.
Authentication
Inbox providers check that you are allowed to send as that domain.- Register the domain in Settings.
- Add the DKIM TXT record and the bounce CNAME. See Add DNS records for Cloudflare, GoDaddy, Shopify, and other providers.
- Choose Check verification until the domain is verified.
- Save Sent from Name and the local part of the sender email.
[email protected].
Writing the alert
These emails are expected (the shopper asked for them), but copy still affects spam filters.- Say what happened: the item is back, or the price dropped.
- Put the product title in the subject. Avoid ALL CAPS, extra punctuation, and words like “free!!!”, “act now”, or “winner”.
- Use merge tags for the real product, price, and link. Do not paste a different URL than
{{product_url}}. - Keep the design simple. A product image, short body, and one button outperform busy templates.
